MANCHESTER UNITED TO PLAY PORTSMOUTH IN NIGERIAN FRIENDLY
European Champions to play FA Cup winners after South African tournament in July
Manchester United is pleased to announce that the first team squad will play an exhibition match in Nigeria in July.
The one-off match against Portsmouth will be the fitting finale to the Tinapa Business Resorts International Soccer Fiesta and will follow on from the team’s participation in the Vodacom Challenge tournament in South Africa.
This is the first visit by Manchester United to Nigeria and the first occasion on which any Barclays Premiers League team has played in West Africa.
David Gill (Chief Executive of Manchester United) said:

Sir Alex and the team are always keen to visit new places and this will provide a great opportunity to let our many fans in Nigeria see our team in the flesh. This match will provide a climax to our summer tour taking in the Vodacom Challenge tournament in South Africa as well as this stop-over in West Africa.”
